Background

Fire Safety Systems (UK) Ltd design, install and maintain fire detection and alarm systems, fire suppression systems and service portable fire extinguishers and hose reels for clients on a national basis. 

 

Project
 

The initial project was the implementation of a bespoke system to meet the requirements of ISO9001:2000 and BAFE scheme SP101. The key customer requirement was “to devise a system that meets the needs of a small but dynamic organisation whilst complying with ISO9001”

The key element of this project was to provide auditable systems not just for ISO9001:2000 but also for BS5306 parts 1, 3 and 8. The initial part of the project was successfully completed in June 2003. This second stage was to support the company in gaining BAFE approval for all of their extinguisher technicians to the ST104 scheme, successfully achieved in March 2004. As the company continued to grow rapidly the need to extend the scope of the system to cover their alarm business became apparent. A system meeting the requirements of BS5839:1:2002 was developed and certified in April 2005.
